NOW ENROLLING: Fall seminar on Tolkien and The Hobbit

REGISTER NOW!

Now Welcome the Weary: Home and Hospitality in The Hobbit is a six-week online seminar on J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved story of adventure, courage, friendship, and homecoming.

Over five teaching sessions, we will read The Hobbit closely, exploring Bilbo’s transformation, the meaning of hospitality, the role of mercy, and Tolkien’s vision of home as something both loved and enlarged by adventure.

Our sixth and final session will be a participant colloquium. Attendees may submit a short optional paper or reflection, and five selected papers will be presented or read in part during the final seminar.
